Frequently Asked Questions

Every dog and every family is different, and we know you may have questions about grooming, daycare, day boarding, or training. This FAQ page gives you quick answers to the things people ask us most often.

General Questions

Do I need an appointment for services?

Yes. Grooming, training, daycare, and day boarding all require appointments so we can give each dog personal attention. The only walk-in service we offer is nail trims.

What vaccinations does my dog need?

We require dogs to be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo. Bordetella is recommended for dogs attending daycare.

Do you work with all breeds?

Yes. We work with all breeds and sizes. We also specialize in doodles and have many doodle families on a regular schedule.

How early should I book?

We recommend booking grooming and daycare ahead of time because our schedule fills quickly. Most clients stay on a 6 to 8 week rotation.

Dog Grooming Questions

How long does a grooming appointment take?

Because we groom one dog at a time, most appointments take between one and two hours depending on the coat type and service needed.

Will my dog be kept in a crate?

Yes. But we do not crate dogs for long periods. Your dog arrives, gets groomed right away, and goes home when they are finished.

Do you offer grooming for puppies?

Yes. We offer gentle puppy grooms that help young dogs get used to the grooming process at their own pace.

Do you offer de-shedding or special coat care?

Yes. We provide de-shed treatments, brush-outs, light trimming, and full grooming depending on your dog’s needs.

Can you handle nervous or sensitive dogs?

Yes. Our groomers have years of experience working with dogs of all temperaments and use slow, positive handling to help dogs feel safe.

Dog Training Questions

What training methods do you use?

We use positive, reward-based training that builds trust and confidence. Our trainer, Bob, has over 20 years of experience reading and understanding dog behavior.

Do you offer training for puppies and adult dogs?

Yes. We offer puppy classes, young dog classes, adult obedience, CGC prep, and private lessons based on your dog’s age and needs.

Can you help with reactive or fearful dogs?

Yes. Bob works with reactive dogs both at our Mattapoisett facility and in your home. Training plans are tailored to each dog.

How long are training classes?

Class lengths vary, but most run for several weeks with one session per week. Private lessons can be scheduled individually.

Do you offer private training sessions?

Yes. Private lessons are available for dogs who need one-on-one attention or have specific behaviors to address.

Dog Daycare and Day Boarding Questions

Is daycare supervised?

Yes. Our daycare is supervised all day by Bob, a professional trainer with years of experience managing playgroups and reading dog body language.

Is there a rest period during the day?

Yes. All daycare dogs take a one-hour nap midday to help regulate energy and keep play calm and enjoyable.

What should my dog bring?

Your dog only needs a collar, leash, and proof of vaccinations. We take care of the rest.

Is daycare right for every dog?

Daycare is great for social, playful dogs. Dogs who prefer quiet time may be happier in our day boarding program.

What is day boarding?

Day boarding is a calm, individual stay for dogs who prefer quiet time or cannot join group daycare. Dogs rest in a cozy kennel and receive personal attention and potty breaks.

Will my dog interact with other dogs?

No. Day boarding is separate from daycare and does not include group play. It is designed for dogs who prefer a low-key environment.

How often do boarding dogs go out?

We provide regular potty breaks and gentle walks throughout the day.

Can my dog have toys or enrichment?

Yes. We can provide enrichment in the kennel, such as a stuffed Kong or Toppl. You can also bring your dog’s favorite safe toys.
